a trans woman has sustained serious injuries during a violent arrest by members of the fascist, vile victoria police at the weekly Palestine rally in the CBD of so-called ‘melbourne’

separate accounts confirm that vicpol targeted this arrestee specifically because she is a transgender woman, and heard vicpol members making transmisogynistic remarks about her prior to the arrest.

in an amazing show of solidarity, other rally-goers swarmed the police van and kicked the door as vicpol fascists abducted the arrestee.

the arrestee was crushed against the ground, and handcuffed in a way taht left deep marks on her wrists. she has reported that, while in the holding cell, she was subjected to further brutality, taunting, and transmisogyny by membes of vicpol:

‘for the jewellery and belt removal and extra pat down, I ad 6 to 8 fully grown men bundle me into the corner they shoved me face down … I felt them peeling my earrings and necklaces off, then I felt them reach for my nipples so I squirmed away. One moved his knee to the back of my head and twisted the cuffs causing them to damage my wrists further.

When they reclipped the handcuffs back on, I heard someone say nah he can take it tighter.

This is the second time THIS YEAR a trans woman has sustained injuries to her rubs and eyes furing arrest by victoria police at a protest in the ‘melbourne’ CBD.

it’s no accident that cops target a protest where people chanted ‘DEATH, DEATH TO THE I.O.F.!’ and called out RACIST COPS that murder Black people with IMPUNITY.

trans liberation is bound up with revolutionary struggles against white supremacy, imperialism and colonial capitalism. Those of us who are trans settlers here have a responsibility to take material action in solidarity with First Nations resistance – from here to Palestine and the global south.
